Games and the Open Metaverse
Are there structural ways we can prevent the Metaverse from ending up as a patchwork of walled gardens full of noise? What can we learn about that from games and the game industry? Neal Stephenson will explore these questions and his perspective on the Metaverse as it’s unfolding.
Neal Stephenson coined the term Metaverse in his 1992 novel Snow Crash. During a four-decade career he has authored or co-authored eighteen books, mostly science and historical fiction. He was a Member, Technical Staff at Blue Origin from its inception in 1999 until 2006 and has also worked at Intellectual Ventures Labs, Magic Leap (where he served as Chief Futurist from 2014 to 2020) and most recently Lamina 1, of which he is co-founder and chairman.
