Trophies, Achievements, & Other Meta-Motivations - Giving Players More Reasons to Play & Enjoy
The best games have intrinsically motivating loops and designs. But we also want players to feel good about themselves when they play and feel good about the investments they make in the gaming hobby and lifestyle. Meta motivational tools – in-game Achievements, Trophies, and Quests – can be a great way to do that. In this roundtable, we’ll discuss best practices and methods for using these tools to enhance the gaming experience – whether it’s surprising and delighting by leading players off path, rewarding skilled players, or making sure players are rewarded in other ways.
