Shigeru Miyamoto


Nintendo

In 1977, Shigeru Miyamoto was hired asa Nintendo staff artist. In 1981, he created Donkey Kong for the arcade, followed by the first Super Mario game in 1985. Together, Mario and Donkey Kong have taken the entire gaming industry a step into the future, and elements from these two games can still be seen in today's platform titles. Miyamoto continues to wow fans and critics with titles such as Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time and Pimkin for Nintendo's GameCube console. Miyamoto was the first inductee in the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' Hall of Fame for his pioneering achievement in the gaming industry as both a creator and a spokesman.

Miyamoto contributed to the "Games for the Rest of the World" panel.
