Behind the Music: Harmonix

Alex Rigopulos is the co-founder and CEO of Harmonix, a Cambridge, MA-based development studio specializing in music-themed games including Frequency and Amplitude, the Karaoke Revolution series, and, most recently, the hit Guitar Hero series. Alex manages the studio and is also one of the company's principal game designers. Prior to Harmonix, Alex's background was in music, having earned his B.S. in music composition from MIT and his M.S. in computer music from the MIT Media Lab, and having played drums in some of the world's most spectacularly crappy rock bands. Harmonix was recently acquired by MTV Networks, a division of Viacom, Inc.
