11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards
The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences® celebrated the 11th anniversary of the most prestigious awards in the gaming industry. Always among the biggest nights of the year, the 11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards® took place on Thursday, February 7, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Held in “The Ballroom” at the Red Rock Casino Resort, the ceremony’s 11th anniversary show brought together the best, brightest, and biggest names in gaming to celebrate accomplishment, creativity, and great games from 2007.
Since 1998, the peer-based Interactive Achievement Awards® have been dedicated to recognizing the outstanding products, talented individuals, and ground-breaking development teams that have propelled the advancement of the multi-billion dollar worldwide entertainment software industry. Each year, the awards presented by the Academy are determined by a vote of field-specific, qualified Academy members, making the Interactive Achievement Awards® the most sought-after, respected, and credible recognition for creators of entertainment software. Additionally, the Academy seeks to enshrine the superior lifelong efforts of revolutionary interactive industry professionals by recognizing a Lifetime Achievement individual and electing a member to the Academy’s Hall of Fame. This year the Academy proudly presented Ken Kutaragi with a Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted Mike Morhaime into the Hall of Fame.
The 11th anniversary of the Interactive Achievement Awards® included many of the biggest names in the gaming industry! The pre-ceremony kicked off events with food, drinks, and entertainment at the Red Rock’s fashionable “Cherry Nightclub & Beach,”. Following the pre-awards celebration was the red carpet for awards nominees and special guests.
